Author Visit

Today we were so lucky to be entertained by a visiting author of  New Zealand books, Des Hunt.
He entertained us using his science background to create metaphors of good writing.
How very engaging and inspirational he was and many of our young students are excited to be attending his writing workshop this afternoon.

Leadership and team building

On Fridays  year 8's have leadership time, learning skills and team work.  To finish off this term we got into different  groups to plan and construct a kite that could fly.  We all worked really well as a team and most groups got their kites airborne. We learn new skills and find out something new about ourselves everytime we work in different groups.

As the term comes to an end we have completed our last activity with Topec. What amazing life saving skills we learn around river safety and low ropes.  Some of us pushed ourselves out of our comfort zones and were rewarded with achieving a new skill while having fun.

Annual Beach Clean up

Our annual beach clean up day turned out sunny, what a day!  We walked to Ahu Ahu to look for any rubbish, which fortunately not a lot was found, so good news.  We then returned along the beach to Corbett Park where we enjoyed mixing with the rest of the school and enjoying a dip in the river, what a fun, enjoyable day.
